In which Tori enjoys freedom

This morning I woke when Biscuit decided to get up (yes I slept on the floor at Ingrid's house last night) but lay on the couch cushions for a while. Then I decided to play zoo tycoon extinct animals on Ingrids computer until she and Shaun woke up. Ingrid showed me a video of an experiment being run in the US of teaching an african grey parrot to talk but also to comprehend what he is doing. They tested the parrot against preschoolers and found the parrot to be equal to a 3 and a half year old child. The test used different objects and the children (and parrot) had to identify the objects colour, shape, the number of corners, and what it was made from. Although the tests seemed really good the objects were all things the parrot had seen before. It would have been better if they handed him something different like a rock made out of a different mineral than the one he was used to. Then when asked "what matter?" and he felt and tasted it, it would be slightly different to normal and you could then see if he understood that it was still a rock. Other than that it was really interesting to watch.

For the rest of the day Ingrid went to work and I bummed around in my room, doing laundry, watching little house, cleaning my paddock, and cuddling Twistie. So I got to enjoy my freedom from exams and simply relax and do nothing. Yay.

Tomorrow I am going home to Adelaide for a week so posts may be a bit few. If you wish to catch up with me please call.
