Last night was Anya's first night at dog agility. She has to stay in the puppy class until she is a year old. This is because pups are not allowed to jump higher than their elbows or do steep climbs. Their is only one other puppy in our class, a 10 month old sheltland sheepdog called Magic whose owner is only about 13.
Last night Anya had heaps of fun. She got to go over jumps, through hoops, climb up onto tables, and best of all run through the tunnel. She kept doing the exercise she was supposed to be doing then running off to go through the tunnel before comming back to me. That is one of the main differences between the agility classes and the obedience classes - we have to work off lead. So far this has led to two main problems. 1. Anya runs off to do the tunnel. 2. Anya runs off to try (unsucessfully) to get Magic to play.
I wonder if their are competitions for puppies in agility? But before all that we need some practice and a bit more concentration.
