Last week Mum and I went book shopping (yes a dangerous occupation I know) and I bought the prequel to the Black Magician Trilogy with my Christmas money and Mum bought me all of the Sophie books of which this blog is based. The second book being Sophie's Tom by Dick King-Smith.
Also on Friday we had to go to town to get our hair cut, mine in particular so that it was neat enough for the hair dresser to do something with for Ingrid's wedding. And while Mum was getting her hair done I went looking down the road and found a second hand book shop. I found a book called Muddle Earth and reading the blurb it sounds hilarious. I also went to Angus and Robertson and got another bunch of books. So I have plenty to read now.
Some sad news. My budgie Charlie managed to get out of his cage a week and a half ago and flew with his half grown wings onto the lawn where a hawk or other such bird apears to have taken him. I was/am devastated. I now have a new budgie. He is green and gold and is called Madison. At least we think he is a he but he is too young to tell yet. He is alot quieter than Charlie and doesnt mind who he sits with (Charlie only liked to sit on my shoulder). However, he doesnt yet seem to care whether I exist at all. I am hoping this will change and he will become more loving.
Today's news. I dropped my parents off at the airport this morning for their fishing holiday in Tassie. Then I went and had breakfast with Haydee at Aquinas, Coffee with Grandpa and Natalie, visited the saddlery on Duthy street but it was shut, visited Laura to give her her birthday pressie (Phil was there too), went for a walk around the Mt Lofty Botanical gardens, went to the saddlery at Oakbank, and arrived home by 1pm.
I had lunch and then took Twistie for a ride. I had seen a sign pointing down Kersbrook Forest rd for a Jazz picnic so I thought it would be in the forestry carpark and Twistie and I headed off in that direction. It turned out to be in someone's paddock so Twistie and I had to stand out on the road to listen. Twistie did not seem impressed with this idea and would not stand still. I eventually gave up and headed off down a track I had not used before. The trail was great. Unlike the other tracks around this one was in open paddocks (not just an overgrown fire track). However the track did not lead where I thought it would and we ended up a fare way from home. The track lead us to the edge of the Adelaide hills and I decided the fastest way back would be to follow the main road back into Kersbrook. It was fine at first but then we had a few cars that went speeding fast around her, a motorbike came up from behind (she didnt mind the ones infront) and another car came really close and I think flicked up a small stone and hit her (by accident). But she was very brave and we arrived hope in one piece. I think next time I ride that track I will just turn around and ride home along it too.
Since arriving home I have fed all the animals and taken the dogs for a swim in the dam. Cleo even played fetch nicely. Taking on Gretta's roll of swimming out and bringing the ball back for Meggy to bring to me to throw again. Then I chatted to Emma and now I am decided what to have for tea.
