In which we play soldier
Today started off the same as any other day. I went to work in the morning and was put to work hand weeding a large garden bed. We are all getting tired of weeding but as it is the only work we have going it either weed or dont get paid, so we weed. At around 9:30am the Abi group guys tell us that we need to clean up the Army's obstacle course because they want to use it on Monday. This involved some more weeding, some raking, brushcutting and lots and lots of playing. We made a number of jokes about the fact that the obstacle course could not have any obstacles on it such as branches and leaves, and we had to fluff up the sand to make it nice and soft if they fell. We all wondered if the Army was going to pay for us to go to Afganistan or Iraq to sweep the streets infront of the soldiers so they wouldnt trip or injure themselves. The best thing about cleaning the obstacle course was that we got to play on all the equipment. There are 18 obstacles and I tried every single one. I was not so good at the ones which involved upper body strenght such as vertical rope climbs and pulling yourself up through holes. The worst obstacle was one where you had to run across thin logs (perpendicular to the direction you are travelling) at approximetly my head height. It was the only obstacle that I couldnt do metally rather than physically. All the ladders and steps etc were really far appart, designed for manly soldiers with large strides. However, this meant that I had to look down to see where I was going over all the obstacles. This adds to the whole eekk Im up really high. Look how far away the ground is. Make my legs stop shaking it isnt helping me keep my balance. But the adrenalin rush was great and we all had a good time laughing at eachother. I am sad that I have Tafe on Monday and wont be able to see the Army guys doing the course. I bet they just fly through it and dont struggle at all.

I bet some of them struggle
Ooh, that sounds like so much fun! I can just see you trying to balance on things Tori! :P
The new cadets were playing with half of the equipment on Tuesday. They had made some of the challenges easier by putting crates to enable them to reach the higher stuff and swapping the direction of other areas to make it easier. However they had to do a huge run first and carry their packs and weapons. They were exhaused by the time they reached the end.
You haven't posted in ages!!
