In which Anya comes to stay

Since Gretta died I have been looking for a new dog. I searched the animal shelters but they are full of Staffie crosses and I really didn't want a Staffie. So I started looking in the paper and in the pet shops. On Wednesday I found Anya.

Anya is a 9 week old 3/4 Golden Retriever 1/4 Brittany Spaniel. Although she is younger than I would ordinarily look for in a dog I'm sure she will grow up quickly. So far Anya is a very loving puppy. She just wants cuddles and to play with the big puppies (especially George). I am looking forward to training her and being able to take her everywhere with me. Hopefully she doesnt become car sick. I would also like to try agility training with her when she is old enough. You can't start agility until they are a year old and their bones are almost mature. She doesn't seem scared of anything. I have taken her to see the horses, the geese and the sheep and nothing seems to phase her. I know I said I wanted a German Shepherd but Anya was too beautiful to resist and I can always get a german shepherd from an animal shelter when I move into my own place and can get a second dog.

If you were wondering where the name Anya came from it is from two places . The first is from the Fox cartoon of Anastasia where the lead character (Princess Anastasia) is refered to as Anya for the majority of the film. The second place is from Joss Whedon's "Buffy" which has a character called Anyanka or Anya. Anya is a vengence demon who loses her powers and is turned mortal. So Anya is my little princess or demon depending on her behaviour. Yay for puppies.

I can't wait to meet her! I'll bring my puppy book with me for you to have a look at, it's got a whole section on introducing them to the car in a way so that they don't have travelling problems.

That would be helpful cause I took her to a show with me today and she threw-up all over me twice. But she wasnt in her travelling box she was just on my lap. Even Gretta got to Mildura and back in the travelling box without being ill. Its magic! Please bring your breed encyclopedia too cause I want to see what it says about her.

You weren't driving, I assume?

The book says relaxed with children, and obedient providing you provide sufficient activity :-) And she totally has the brittany ears.

Dad was driving really fast round horrid corners. You would have been sick too. Everytime we came to a windy bit she started to wine but Dad paid no attention. Any handy hints for car travel between now and when you bring your book?
