In which Tori breaks her first bone (unless little toes count)

To start this post I better fill you in on what has been happening with Otis over the past few months. At the end of september Otis had a really sore back. I took him to the chiro and his back seemed better but I still could not ride his because he had lost a shoe. Finnaly the farrier replaced the shoe but Otis went lame. The farrier thought it was an absess in his hoof and it would be best to leave him for a week or two to see if it resolved its self. During this time I was sent to Mildura VIC for work.
When I got back at the start of November Otis was still lame so I took him to our local vet. He thought the farrier might have pricked the live sensitive tissue in Otis' hoof and so removed Otis' hind shoes then sent him home with some anti-innflamatories to take. While Otis seemed less irritable he was still lame so we got a referal to take him to the vets at Morphetville (where they do all the complex horse stuff). The vet there took some x-rays of Otis' hind leg and found that he had badly injured his stifle. The stifle is the horse equivalent of our knee.
The recommendation was to give Otis a month of stable rest, then 2 months of rest in the yard and then another two months in the paddock before bringing him back for more x-rays. At the end of this he may be able to be used as a trail riding horse but no more dressage or showjumping. Dad was supposed to fix my stable asap so Otis could use it but he got sick and then we were all busy so it was not until yesterday that the stable was actually finnished.

This morning it was cold, wet and raining. Although Otis had access to the stable he was standing out in the rain shivering. I got his breakfast and put it in the stable then went to put up the poles which stop him getting out. He realised what I was doing and got frightened at the thought of being shut in so he kicked my left hand (which was holding the pole) and bolted from the stable.
To reduce the length of this very long post; I have broken my second metacarple on my left hand. For those who do not know where this is; it is the bone which runs from your wrist to the knuckle of your index finger. It is broken all the way through and my doctor (Mark) thinks the lower section is twisted so I have to go and see an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday. At the moment my wrist and hand are all bandaged up, my arm is in a sling and I am heavily dosed up on codine forte. No work for me for a little while.

Oh poor Tori, I know exactly how annoying it is to have a hand out of action.

My arm is still hurting and being annoying and I have to go to the Physio today. At least it is our left hands, I suppose.
